The Role
Reporting to the Sales Design Manager, you will work as part of a team of Designers and Compliance Co-Ordinators responsible for managing planning approvals, ensuring compliance with local governments, providing written letters of justification and supporting the successful delivery of residential developments across multiple brands.
You will also be responsible to:
- Interpret planning schemes, zoning and local policies to guide feasibility and ensure compliance with R‑Codes and local requirements
- Identify planning issues early, prepare planning reports, justifications and supporting documentation, and manage RFIs and planning conditions
- Provide planning advice to design, construction and sales teams, and support the Approvals Team with planning applications
- Liaise with councils, regulatory authorities and consultants; represent the company in planning meetings and negotiate variances
- Monitor approval timelines, stay updated on planning legislation, and assess development opportunities including subdivisions, rezoning and special projects
- Lead planning due diligence for land acquisitions, review structure plans and development strategies, and manage external planning consultants
- Mentor junior planners, identify planning risks and recommend mitigation strategies
About You
We’re seeking a qualified Town Planner with strong administrative capabilities and a keen eye for detail. Experience working with local councils or shires is highly regarded, and a willingness to navigate and learn new planning processes will be essential. You will also possess the following:
- Degree in Urban/Town Planning or related discipline
- Experience in residential development or building company environment
- Strong knowledge of WA planning schemes, R-codes and local planning policies
- Proven ability to prepare planning reports and justification letters
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving capability
