The Role

Reporting to the Sales Design Manager, you will work as part of a team of Designers and Compliance Co-Ordinators responsible for managing planning approvals, ensuring compliance with local governments, providing written letters of justification and supporting the successful delivery of residential developments across multiple brands.

You will also be responsible to:

• Interpret planning schemes, zoning regulations and local policies to guide project feasibility
• Conduct compliance checks against R-codes and local planning policies
• Identify planning issues at design stage and prior to lodgement
• Prepare planning reports, justifications and supporting documentation
• Manage responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) and planning conditions
• Provide planning advice to design, construction and sales teams
• Support the Approvals Team with planning applications
• Provide guidance and feasibility assessments on special projects
• Liaise with local councils, regulatory authorities and planning consultants
• Represent the company in planning meetings and deliberations
• Negotiate planning variances and setback justifications with councils
• Monitor approval timelines and proactively address delays
• Stay current with changes in planning legislation and industry trends
• Identify high-potential development sites and advise on future zoning changes
• Provide training to internal teams on regulatory updates
• Advise on subdivisions and rezoning opportunities

About You

We’re seeking a qualified Town Planner with strong administrative capabilities and a keen eye for detail. Experience working with local councils or shires is highly regarded, and a willingness to navigate and learn new planning processes will be essential. You will also possess the following:

• Degree in Urban/Town Planning or related discipline
• Experience in residential development or building company environment
• Strong knowledge of WA planning schemes, R-codes and local planning policies
• Proven ability to prepare planning reports and justification letters
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving capability
