The Role

Reporting to the HSE Manager WA, the key purpose of this role is to assist with the continued development, implementation and administration of the ABN Group’s Safety Management System. In doing so, our “Work Safe Home Safe” ethos is enhanced via constantly reducing exposure to risk and improving HSE standards.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support the overall development of HSE capabilities throughout all levels of the organisation in line with legislation, regulations, codes of practice and policies
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders including Building Managers, Construction Managers, Site Managers, suppliers and contractors
  • Champion collaboration between key stakeholders to develop practical and effective solutions to site safety and to document safer HSE systems and processes
  • Identify and facilitate safety related training and provide practical safety solutions aligned with business priorities
  • Investigate HSE incidents and provide feedback to the ABN Group HSE Manager
  • Conduct site safety inspections and audits on ABN construction sites, as well as assist and coordinate external audits
  • Assist with subcontractor management including documentation, audits, reviews and meetings
  • Provide proactive safety leadership to ABN Group stakeholders to drive the right safety culture and behaviours

You

We are looking for an individual who has a genuine passion for safety and is relentless in the pursuit of a safe working environment. A strong theoretical and practical understanding of relevant legislation and standards is essential.

In addition, the following criteria are key for your success:

  • Minimum Cert IV in Safety or considerable practical safety experience (tertiary qualifications in HSE will be highly regarded)
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation with an ability to translate this into practical safety solutions on site
  • A passion for safety and an ability to influence key stakeholders
  • Sounds understanding and experience in conducting incident investigations
  • Ability to mentor, upskill and deliver training to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability and willingness to hold people accountable and conduct challenging conversations in a constructive manner
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and effectively manage deadlines
