About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Construction Manager to join our Residential Building team in Western Australia.
Reporting to the Building Manager, you’ll lead a team of Site Managers and take responsibility for construction performance across your region, ensuring our homes are delivered safely, efficiently, to a high standard and with a great customer experience.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll balance people leadership with operational and commercial performance. You’ll work closely with your Site Managers to manage build timeframes, productivity, trade availability, costs, safety, quality and customer outcomes.
You’ll also play an important role in embedding our “Do it Once, Do it Right” and “Work Safe, Home Safe” approach across every site.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Site Managers to achieve operational and performance targets
- Drive onsite productivity and build programs, minimising downtime and keeping projects moving
- Provide visible safety leadership and ensure our safety requirements and critical risk controls are consistently applied
- Monitor quality and compliance across sites and ensure issues are identified and resolved
- Manage Site Manager workloads, performance, development and capability
- Review construction performance, forecasts, costs and opportunities for improvement
- Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to support trade availability and performance
- Oversee the handover process to ensure homes meet ABN’s quality standards
- Review customer feedback and support Site Managers in resolving escalations
- Partner across Safety, Operations, Finance, Customer Experience and other teams to achieve strong business outcomes.
About you
You’ll be an experienced residential construction leader who knows how to get the best out of people while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, customers and commercial outcomes.
You’ll bring:
- Strong experience within the residential construction industry
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and motivating construction teams
- The ability to interpret building plans, specifications and inspection reports
- Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of construction performance and costs
- Excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- The ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, trades, suppliers and customers
- A collaborative leadership style with a strong focus on delivering results
- A relevant trade qualification and/or experience working closely with trades within residential construction will be highly regarded.
- 2 years experience in a Construction Manager or Area Manager role
