Our Company
For more than 45 years, ABN Group has been a leader in the building, property, and finance industries, helping thousands of Australians turn the dream of home ownership into reality. We've delivered over 90,000 homes across Western Australia and Victoria — from first homes to luxury builds — earning the trust of our community along the way.
The Role
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role and shape the future of workforce capability within a high-performing residential construction business.
Reporting to the General Manager – Construction, you will take ownership of a critical function that underpins delivery performance across Western Australia. The workforce you lead supports the delivery of approximately 1,500 homes per annum, requiring a highly coordinated, scalable, and high-performing workforce model.
You will oversee the end-to-end workforce ecosystem — including trade orchestration, subcontractor engagement, a large-scale apprenticeship program (circa 120 apprentices), and the Construction Academy — ensuring the business has the capability and capacity to meet current and future demand.
You will lead and develop a multi-disciplinary management team, driving a step-change in how workforce capability is planned, deployed, and grown across the business.
Your success in this role will be defined by your ability to lead people, build capability, and drive performance through others — creating a more aligned, disciplined, and high-performing workforce model.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and develop a high-performing leadership team across Trade Allocation, Trade Engagement, and Workforce Development
- Own and deliver the workforce strategy, aligning capability, capacity, and demand across a high-volume construction program (~1,500 homes per annum)
- Drive a sophisticated approach to trade orchestration, ensuring the most capable trades are deployed to maximise build performance
- Strengthen and expand a high-quality subcontractor and trade partner network
- Oversee a large-scale apprenticeship program (circa 120 apprentices) and the Construction Academy
- Embed data-driven workforce planning, forecasting demand, managing risk, and improving productivity outcomes
- Lead continuous improvement across workforce systems, processes, and operating models
- Partner closely with Construction leaders to align workforce capability with delivery targets
- Champion safety, quality, and compliance as non-negotiable priorities
About You
You are a proven construction leader, currently operating at an Operations Manager level or similar, with a strong track record of leading teams and delivering results in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Most importantly, you are a leader of people — someone who can build capability, set clear expectations, and drive accountability across multiple teams.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated leadership experience within residential construction or a similar environment
- Experience leading leaders and building high-performing, accountable teams
- A strong operational background, with exposure to workforce planning, trade allocation, or delivery management
- The ability to drive performance, alignment, and consistency across multiple functions
- Strong commercial acumen, with an understanding of productivity, cost, and build performance
- A practical, outcomes-focused mindset, supported by data and insight
- Strong stakeholder management capability, with the confidence to influence at a senior level
